Happy Ubuntu Community Appreciation Day 2017!
Today is Ubuntu
Community Appreciation Day, a chance for everyone to come together to
thank those in the community who we feel deserve recognition for
their hard work. This year has been incredibly productive for the
Ubuntu Community and we at Entroware are excited by the direction
Ubuntu is heading in and the changes that have been made. We would
like to thank the entire community for all of their hard work over
the past year and, particularly, over the past 6 months.
Specifically, we would like to thank:
The Ubuntu Desktop
team for the fast and effective switchover to Gnome. Changing desktop
environments can present challenges, especially whilst aiming to
retain a fluid transition in user experience. Fortunately, the
Ubuntu Desktop team managed to switch us over to Gnome, not only
quickly, but seamlessly.
The Ubuntu MATE team
for providing a solid alternative, especially for users who are new
to Linux. Ubuntu MATE's "retrospective future" approach
has stood the test of time since we first started shipping it in 2015
and has proven itself to be popular amongst users switching from
proprietary operating systems to
Linux. Ubuntu MATE has consistently delivered stability and
familiarity to an important part of our customer base.
The Snap team for
their hard work in providing an excellent, innovative packaging
system and snapping the most popular Linux software. The Snap team
have really helped to streamline software installation and updates
for new users and retain consistency across distributions.
Thank you, once
again, to the Ubuntu Community for a great year.
